As part of the festival, the Tidal Basin is transformed into a sea of pink, with cherry blossom trees lining the water’s edge. Visitors can stroll along the basin and take in the beautiful sights, sounds, and smells of the blooming cherry blossoms.
But the festival isn’t just about admiring the cherry blossoms – there are plenty of events and activities to keep visitors entertained throughout the week. The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is a highlight of the festival, featuring floats, marching bands, and performers from around the world. There are also cultural performances, food and drink vendors, and even a kite festival.
One of the most popular events of the festival is the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, which draws thousands of runners from across the country. The course winds through the streets of Washington, D.C., taking runners past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
